Traditional Art / Mixed Media / People

A small (6"x6") gouache painting for color theory class. We were supposed to use chromatic grays. This was my third go at it after realizing my previous paintings were still too saturated. D: So of course I went and got carried away with colored pencil outlines on this one. >> Also, it was supposed to be an abstract painting, but as you can see... ... I don't follow directions very well.

I really like gray now, though. GRAY GRAY GRAY GRAY GRAY

I don't think I've seen anything quite like this before. That combination of circusesque cheerfulness in the colors and shapes with the sinister and very haunting gaze and a certain darkness to the overall expression (I see a guy who has been through more than he can even tell, yet lays the full weight of it down on me with this one look in his eyes). It blows me away and like onorobo, I think I might have just gotten pregnant. Please keep doing stuff like this because it's friggin amazing.
